Puffer Expands Emissions Reduction Offerings with LCO's CROSSFIRE Chemical Injection Pump

February 4, 2025

At Puffer-Sweiven, we understand that effective management of energy, emissions and environmental performance are critical in driving costs down and meeting regulatory compliance requirements. That’s why we are excited to announce the addition of LCO Technologies’ CROSSFIRE Chemical Injection Pump to our emissions reduction technology portfolio. The solar-powered chemical injection pump is an ultra-low power device that is designed to reduce chemical costs, maintenance costs, and methane emissions.

Chemical injection pumps are used in the oil and gas industry to deliver accurate chemical injection rates into the wellbore and are often operated in remote locations. Traditionally, these fuel gas-powered (pneumatic) pumps are the largest piece of venting equipment at the well pad, releasing methane into the atmosphere.

LCO's CROSSFIRE Chemical Injection Pump is revolutionizing operations by offering a sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional pneumatic pumps. Unlike conventional models that vent gas, the CROSSFIRE pump eliminates emissions while using minimal power. The pump can reliably run off solar power and can be configured for 1-4 fluid ends allowing it to replace up to four pneumatic chemical injection pumps with one unit.

It is estimated that up to 80% of methanol injection applications are over-injecting, resulting in lost savings. The sophisticated logic built into the CROSSFIRE’s controller allows injection rates to be determined based on production flow or pressure. If a well is producing less, the chemical injection pump will throttle back automatically, reducing chemical usage, thus reducing operations cost.

We are dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions and supporting our clients with unparalleled service, expertise, and product excellence. By collaborating with LCO, we aim to elevate chemical injection processes and foster long-term relationships that drive efficiency, cost savings, and innovation.
